"Cardinal Siri Tells Role of Catholic Press"

GENOA, Italy, April 1, 1959 (NC)— The Catholic newspaper is set up to repeat constantly the unchanging truths of the Church.

His Eminence Giuseppe Cardinal Siri, Archbishop of Genoa, in dedicating the new building of the archdiocesan daily newspaper II Nuovo Cittadino, said that the Catholic paper “repeats today what it said yesterday; it says today what it will say tomorrow.”

The Cardinal explained that the Catholic paper “is not a newspaper which seeks to spread different truths in different ages and according to the changes of fortune and of feelings. It has a very clearly defined objective which has been the same for 20, 30 and 50 years . . .

It is important that there should be such papers to promote and treat of eternal truth, a truth inherent in nature, which does not change.” (End)

The Supreme Crisis: "Yet many Christians will remember that this was all foretold of

Antichrist for centuries past and perceive the fraud of Satan and refuse to be deceived.

They will stand firm and enlighten the faint-hearted and console them."

Ecclesiastical Approbation

In Today's Catholic World (TCWBLOG.com) carries the approbation in writing of the Holy See in exile. It faithfully adheres to the rules for Catholic Journals mandated by Leo XIII in the Apostolic Constitution Officiorum ac Munerum, January 25, 1897 - so heavily re-stressed by Pius X in Pascendi Dominici Gregis, September 8, 1907.
