"CHINA ANSWERS POPE'S CALL—In a recent message addressed to the Universal Church, the Holy Father [Pius XI] spoke of the need of a native priesthood. China has a population of 400,000,000, and observers say that the creation of a native priesthood is the only way in which China can be converted.
