The Holy Nail (Der Heilige Nagel), is a nail of the True Cross, found by Empress St. Helena in Palestine, and given to the High Cathedral of St. Peter in Trier - founded by her son Constantine. The sacred relic is contained in an ornate reliquary, from the Egbert workshops. It was previously held in the "Egbert Shrine" - a famed reliquary which contains a sandal of St. Andrew, as well as the cup of St. Helena, shackles from the chain of St. Peter, first class relics of his beard hair, and the Holy Nail from the True Cross in a separate reliquary - pictured above.
