The 11th century Abbey of Saint-Saulve was built on the site of an even older monastery dedicated to Saint Walloy, founded by the Breton monks in the 10th century. The Abbey of Saint-Saulve
was noted for its devotion to God's Mother, under the title of Our Lady of Grace. It flourished between the 12th and 13th century - and for centuries was a site of pilgrimage by the faithful - from throughout Europe.
In 1793, the church was ransacked and its holy contents were thrown into the flames by satanic Freemasonic revolutionary
mobs. After the "Reign of Terror", the nuns of the Sainte-Austreberthe abbey, who had been able to flee the city, with their treasure of relics in reliquaries, sacred art etc., -
gave them as a gift to the famous Abbey Saint-Saulve - so dedicated to Our Lady.
