Jan 23 Espousals of Our Lady: According to Arras Custom

(Jan) 23. Espousals of Our Lady, according to the custom of Arras. This feast was first celebrated in the year 1556. (Monum. Eccles. Attrebat.)

In 1556, the diocese of Arras instituted the Espousals of Mary on January 23. The Dominican liturgical composer Pierre Doré, in its celebration, followed Gerson’s idea of honoring both the bride and the groom.
