This is one of Our Lady's earliest titles of honour. It is reported that St. Eusebius of Vercelli brought
back an image of Our Lady of Consolation when he was returning from exile in Egypt in 363. By the 2nd Century, Catholics venerated Mary as Our Lady of Consolation, throughout the early Church.
