Ordination History of Fr. Peter Khoat Van Tran

TCW Reader asked:

Question:

"Reverend Father Tran,

Greetings. A Catholic friend of mine and I are wondering about your own ordination history. Can you please tell us which bishop(s) and the year they performed your ordination to the priesthood?"

-Gregory Lynne; Virginia

Answer:

Deo gratias!

Hello Gregory Lynne,

I was ordained on May 5th, 1967 by Bishop Simon Hoa Nguyen in Tridentine rite. I was regularized in 1988 by Pope Gregory XVII in Rome.

May God bless you!

Fr. PKVT

what is meant by regularized? If you were ordained in the Tridentine Rite that
should be good enough and certainly valid. Why regularized?

Regularized... meaning he was removed of any censor for receiving ordination outside of the Catholic Church, and was formally approved by the Pope (Gregory XVII) to offer Catholic (True) Sacraments, for the Church. (He received canonical mission.)

May 5th, 2016 (Feast of St. Pius V) marked the 49th Anniversary of the ordination to the sacred priesthood, of the Rev. Fr. Peter Khoat Van Tran.

Much of the city of St. Augustine, FL today, looks like classic European cities do. It's a very historically important & beautiful city. Visit it if you can.
