"On The Nativity of Christ & Virginity of His Holy Mother"
A Sermon by Fr. UK, Priest of His Holiness, Gregory XVIII
Holy Christmas, Jan 7th, 2018 A.D.
Blessed be the Nativity
of Our Saviour.
This Feast is so important for every Catholic, since, thanks to the Nativity, we take part in the Mystery
of the Incarnation of the Second Person of the Most Holy Trinity, Who by means of this Mystery became so close to us.
we keep in mind during the celebration of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ?
We find the answer in the Holy Gospel of St.
“And she shall bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from
their sins” (St. Matthew 1:21).
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child and bring forth a son;
and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which, being interpreted, is God with us” (St. Matthew 1:23).
he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son; and he called his name Jesus” (St. Matthew 1:23).
first we see that the purpose of the Nativity, or the first Advent of Christ, was to “save his people from their sins” and to be “God with us”.
Since the very first sin of Adam and Eve, all of the human race became infected with Original Sin. Because of Original Sin, Adam and Eve, and all humanity through them,
lost their "spiritual virginity", and consequently forfeited the gift of everlasting life with their Creator. Their bodies became sick and mortal, and their lives on earth became very hard and difficult: “cursed is the earth
in thy work; with labour and toil shalt thou eat thereof all the days of thy life” and “dust thou art, and unto dust thou shalt return”.
This happened because Adam and Eve voluntarily accepted the lie of the serpent, i.e. the devil... they imprudently transgressed God’s one commandment to them: “Of every tree of paradise
thou shalt eat; but of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat. For in what day soever thou shalt eat of it, thou shalt die the death” (Genesis 2:16-17).
Being a Just Judge, God gave them punishment, but at the same time He gave them the chance to be saved. God gave them the Saviour, Who "shall save his people from
their sins". Every man has a chance to be saved, but unfortunately not every man uses this chance. Only His people will be saved.
Who are His people?
God founded His only Church
upon St. Peter the Apostle (St. Matthew 16:18), and those people who belong to His Church, they are His people. They prudently utilize the chance, given them by God.
When people become members of God's Church, founded upon St. Peter, they have not only a chance, but the real opportunity to be saved - because the Founder of the Church, “God with us”,
indeed always is with us, i.e. with His Church - and has provided every necessary means for salvation, especially the Holy Sacraments. When Our Saviour said to His Apostles that He will be with them “even to the consummation of the world” (St.
Matthew 28:19-20), He said it not only to His Apostles (although firstly to them), but to the whole Church, through them.
be saved it is absolutely necessary to be a member of Christ’s Church. No matter who you are, clergy or laymen. And if you want to be saved, you must not only be a part of His people, that is of His Church built upon St.
Peter, but you must do everything, that Our Saviour commanded.
(On the Perpetual Virginity of the Mother of God)
Secondly, during the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, we profess our faith in the Perpetual Virginity of His Mother, Mary.
The Prophet Isaias and St. Matthew the Evangelist say the same: “Behold, a virgin shall be with child and bring forth a son”. To believe in the Perpetual Virginity of the Mother of God is an integral part of our salvation.
Many heretics throughout the history of the Christianity, till our days, reject the Perpetual Virginity of Mary... they submit to a lie
of the the devil. The “logic” of the devil is - if a mother is a “non-virgin” then the son is “non-innocent” too - and in such a case, nobody is obliged to keep commandments of a “sinful” son.
But the Word of God teaches that the Mother of the Saviour is "the Virgin", and Her Son, the Saviour, is "the Innocent". He Himself, being Innocence
itself, desired His Mother to be a Virgin too. St. Joseph “knew her not” since he was “a just man” and he was obedient to God’s will and commandments, as we know from Holy Scripture.
If somebody does not believe in the Perpetual Virginity of the Mother of God, he will not be saved. Why? Because God's Will commanded that
the Blessed Virgin Mary was to be a very special instrument of salvation... the Infallible Church teaches that the Perpetual Virginity of Mary is a doctrine of the faith.
(The Three Wise Men)
One more very important lesson of the Nativity, is the story of the Three Wise Men, who came from the East, to Bethlehem.
Before they came to the infant Jesus, they were followers of a pagan cult, astrology. One of the Christmas hymns we sing, says that before Christ they adored stars, but after they came to visit Christ, they were converted, and became followers and worshipers
of the only "Star, the Sun of the Truth", as the Church metaphorically calls Jesus Christ.
Before Christ they adored creatures.
But after their meeting with the Saviour, they then adored the Creator, and they never went back to the adoration of creatures.
Christ they were paganist magicians, but after the meeting with Jesus Christ in person, they became Christian wise men.
Christ they stood in friendship with the representatives of false authorities, such as Herod - and that was usual for them - to communicate with those who were of their circle... but after they met the Saviour, they abandoned their friendship
with false authorities, since they began their friendship with the True Authority - Jesus Christ. “And, having received an answer in sleep that they should not return to Herod, they went back another way into their country” (St.
So, during the annual celebration of the Nativity we should accept the Virginity of the Mother of God, as St.
Joseph did. And just as the Three Wise Men, we should never return to pagan cults. Since we have found the Child Jesus and accepted Him as True God, we should not return to false authorities, such as Herod, Wojtyla, Ratzinger or Bergoglio, because friendship
with them is useless and damning.
We have the Ever Virgin Mother of God, we have the Angels of God, we have St. Joseph, we have
the Three Wise Men. All of them are members of the only Church of Jesus Christ, Who built Her upon St. Peter. And all of them are our true friends and prayerful patrons before God the Saviour, Whose Birthday we celebrate.
Let us follow their faith, and let us ask them to help us to stay in the state of spiritual virginity, which is absolutely necessary for salvation.
Blessed be the Nativity of the Christ Child and His Ever Virgin Mother!
