Important 1852 Book on Apparition of B.V.M at La Salette

TCW is posting an important book published in 1852 on the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at La Salette in the Diocese of Grenoble, France. Here is an excerpt from pages 22-23:

"During the past year 1851 the children, in the presence of certain persons named by the Bishop of Grenoble, wrote each on a sheet of paper, which was folded and sealed by the writer, the secrets entrusted to them. The Bishop then directed M. Rousselot and another priest to carry these sealed packets to Rome, and deliver them into the hand of the Holy Father. This was done. His Holiness (Pius IX) first broke the seal of the one and read it without making any remark. On perusing the other he walked with it to the window; and after haying read it, said, "It is not only France that has sinned, but Germany, Italy — all Europe."
