Mary Unsullied Lily of Heavenly Purity (Dec 8th)

"Mary, unsullied lily of heavenly purity, I rejoice with thee, because from
thy conception's earliest dawn thou wast full of grace, and endowed with the perfect use of reason. I thank and I adore the ever blessed Trinity, who gave thee those high gifts. I am overwhelmed with shame in thy presence, to see myself so poor in grace. O thou, who wast filled with heavenly grace ! impart some portion of it to my soul, and make me share the treasures of thy immaculate conception." ("The Raccolta", 1903, from Novena In Honor Of Most Holy Mary. Today is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception!)

Happy Easter 2013 from In Today's Catholic World

"The Resurrection" Domenico Passignano 1600-25 A.D.

March 31, 2013 (Easter Sunday)

We want to wish all of In Today's Catholic World readers a Happy Easter 2013! The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass (Pius V Missal) will be offered for the intention of all of TCW's loyal readers (True Catholics) by the *Rev. Father Peter Khoat Van Tran today on this holy feast day of the Resurrection of Our Blessed Lord. The Church of St. Peter will triumph ... let's redouble our prayers!

"Catechism of the Summa Theologica of Saint Thomas Aquinas", p. 278, Impr., on the vital importance of (being in union with) papal jurisdiction:

Q. Why does this supreme power in the order of jurisdiction belong to the Sovereign Pontiff?

A. Because the perfect unity of the Church demands that this supreme power should belong to him alone. For this reason Jesus Christ charged Simon Peter to feed His flock; and the Roman Pontiff is the one and only legitimate successor of St. Peter unto the end of time (XL. 6).

Q. It is then from the Sovereign Pontiff that depends every man's union with Jesus Christ through the sacraments, and consequently his supernatural life and eternal salvation?

A. Yes; for although it is true that the grace of Jesus Christ is not in an absolute way dependent upon the reception of the sacraments themselves when it is impossible to receive them, at least in the case of adults and that the action of the Holy Ghost can supplement this defect provided the person is not in bad faith; it is, on the other hand, absolutely certain that no one who separates himself knowingly from communion with the Sovereign Pontiff can participate in the grace of Jesus Christ, and that in consequence if he dies in that state he is irremediably lost."

*Father Tran is most grateful for all of those who have contacted him and shown their generosity. To send alms and/or stipends to have Masses (with jurisdiction from the Holy See in exile) said for your intentions, please click here.

The Requirement of a True Catholic

Ave Maris Stella (Hail Star of the Sea)

March 24th, 2013 (Palm Sunday)

In this terrible (unavoidable) battle true Catholics are in, during these end days, to save their souls ... one can find great comfort in the following excerpt from St. Alphonsus Liguori's classic, "The Glories of Mary" pp. 286-287:

"St. Mary Magdalen of Pazzi saw a small vessel in the midst of the sea, in which all the servants of Mary had taken shelter; she herself steering it, safely conducted them to port. By this the saint understood that they who live under the protection of Mary, are rescued, in the midst of all the dangers of this life, from the shipwreck of sin, and from damnation, for by her they are guided in safety to the port of paradise." -St. Alphonsus Liguori, "The Glories of Mary", 1852, Imprimatur

As Fr. Peter Khoat Van Tran said in a sermon (May 2006) about this horrific trial the Church is undergoing, "Those who have a true devotion to Mary ... that is the sign ... of a true Catholic" (who will persevere).

Less than a year later in Newport Beach, California this holy priest, Fr. Tran, would say to a group of Catholics gathered:  "This is the time of the power of darkness, but we must challenge that darkness! In order to be a true Catholic three things are required: devotion to the Holy Eucharist, devotion to Our Lady, and devotion to the Papacy- but many forget the third one- devotion to the Papacy. Yet, it is a requirement of a true Catholic. You must have all three. Jesus will restore His Church, but we must fight- fight with courage!"

" ... she ... safely conducted them to port."

St. Alphonsus Liguori: "Let us, then, strive to enter this blessed little vessel of the mantle of Mary, and there let us dwell secure of the kingdom of heaven; for the Church sings, 'Holy mother of God, all those who are to be partakers of eternal joy dwell with thee, and live under thy protection.'" Encouragements from St. Gregory to True Faithful: More Prophecies of Marie-Julie Jahenny

Ecstasy of Pope St. Gregory the Great, Church Doctor

March 21st, 2013 (Passion Thursday)

TCW thinks Marie-Julie Jahenny, "The Breton Stigmatist", is one of the greatest prophets in the history of the Catholic Church. She had many Saints and Holy individuals appear to her - giving her heavenly instructions to reveal to the *faithful during this, the usurpation of the papacy, by the agents of Antichrist.

*Those who reject the Novus Ordo Sect & their SSPX - and the Sedevacantist Lie -ED

We received an email the other day in which the sender, when referring to popes Gregory XVII and his Successor Gregory XVIII, reverently called their papacies "The Gregory's". We think it is fitting to share with our readers a sublime prophecy of encouragement received by Marie-Julie Jahenny on August 19, 1878 from Pope St. Gregory the Great. It is found in the book, "Prophecies of La Fraudais of Marie-Julie Jahenny", on pages 221-223.

ENCOURAGEMENTS FROM SAINT GREGORY (August 19, 1878)

I see coming along one elect, all clad in white, who is not similar to the other ones. He is wearing garments of glory different from those of the other Saints. He says:

"May the sweet peace of Our Lord dwell in your soul and in that of all the servants of the Cross! The love of God endkindle you!

(Marie-Julie) --Good Saint, I am not acquainted with you and dare not speak with you too much, because you seem to me endowed with too sublime a highness.

"You never saw me, but perhaps you do know my name? I am saint Gregory, Pope and Doctor of the Church. I come to give you a word on the part of the Lord...

"In His tenderness the Lord gave you His love, His favours. His power shines forth on earth.  What is left for us to do? To give Him thanks, to give Him testimonies of our gratitude.

"What does He recieve in exchange of so great a love?

"From most of men, He recieves nothing but insults and profanations. O blind man of present time, when is light going to impress your eye to let you see all God is accomplishing through His infinite power, in every place and everywhere?

"Let us be trembling, we, the small number of God's friends, over the fate of so many unfortunate souls who rejected light in order to live in idolatry. When the Church will have been threatened and beaten down, when will be resounding the hour of the promised triumph, upon this land trodden by insolent feet, what will they be thinking, what will those souls be thinking?

"They will have nothing left; God will have spoken; God will have given His command; God will have brought scandal to an end. (Three Days of Darkness Chastisement)

"For the time being, God is tolerating. The passing present time is nothing but a period of suffering. God calls upon souls to share in His disgrace. Storm is roaring. Evil and wickedness will soon make their entry in triumph.  What direction is the awful avenging going to take? In direction of God's temple, of those who are God's representatives on earth (Gregory XVII & Gregory XVIII), of those who serve Him...

"Rocks will be knocking against one another; stones will be whizzing around. Tired with exhaustion from the fury of the storm, what will you have to do? Just to wait, pray, and accomplish God's will. Let us serve God through the darkness which are found within us.  Let us serve Him despite the darkness amidst which He leaves us walking along (the eclipse of the Church); let us serve Him just the same. When the light of your souls will have been entirely extinguished, even then never lose your courage; walk through all dangers; face up to the dangers and God will gratify you with grace and consolations.

"Let us take up our crosses; let us carry them without blushing; some are to be encountered everywhere. Already, during this life, they will supply us with the delightful expectation of seeing God and possessing Him.

"I am retiring. Let us pray for the threatened Church...The storm will be terrible, but the Church will remain infallible; its walls will not be shaken up. There will be martyrs. Let us pray for a family lead astray, for a corrupt people, for a degraded society. All of them are our brethren in Our Lord and redeemed at the cost of His Blood.

"It is in glory that our eternal encounter is to take place; there we will meet with one another. The peace of the Lord be with you and may His love make you happy!"

"The virtue of faith, the foundation of a Christian life, gives us an absolute certitude of the truths which we believe; a certitude more positive than that which is based on the testimony of our eyes and reason. It rests on God, whose word cannot fail: and on the Church, which is likewise infallible when teaching us that word." -The Rev. Father Francois Xavier Schouppe S.J.

The Passion of Christ is a Remedy Against Sin

Painting of St. Paul of the Cross & The Sacred Passion

March 17th, 2013 (Passion Sunday)

As Holy Week approaches, we are posting an excerpt from the book: "Meditations for Lent from St. Thomas Aquinas" (translated by Father Philip Hughes, published by Sheed & Ward 1937 Imprimatur). Here is a meditation for Passion Monday from The Angelic Doctor and a *link to the full-text of this sublime book. "His (St. Thomas') writings are without error, and he himself is the most glorious champion of the Catholic faith." -Pope Leo XIII

Passion Monday: The Passion of Christ is a Remedy Against Sin

(A Meditation From St. Thomas Aquinas)

We find in the Passion of Christ a remedy against all the evils that we incur through sin. Now these evils are five in number.

(i) We ourselves become unclean. When a man commits any sin he soils his soul, for just as
virtue is the beauty of the soul, so sin is a stain upon it. How happeneth it, O Israel, that thou art in thy enemies land? Thou art grown old in a strange country, thou art defiled with the dead (Baruch iii. 10, I I).

The Passion of Christ takes away this stain. For Christ, by His Passion, made of His blood a bath wherein He might wash sinners. The soul is washed with the blood of Christ in Baptism, for it is from the blood of Christ that the sacrament draws its power of giving new life. When therefore one who is baptised soils himself again by sin, he insults Christ and sins more deeply than before.

(ii) We offend God. As the man who is fleshly-minded loves what is beautiful to the flesh, so God loves spiritual beauty, the beauty of the soul. When the soul's beauty is defiled by sin God is offended, and holds the offender in hatred. But the Passion of Christ takes away this hatred, for it does what man himself could not possibly do, namely it makes full satisfaction to God for the sin. The love and obedience of Christ was greater than the sin and rebellion of Adam.

(iii) We ourselves are weakened. Man believes that, once he has committed the sin, he will be able to keep from sin for the future. Experience shows that what really happens is quite otherwise. The effect of the first sin is to weaken the sinner and make him still more inclined to sin. Sin dominates man more and more, and man left to himself, whatever his powers, places himself in such a state that he cannot rise from it. Like a man who has thrown himself into a well, there he must lie, unless he is drawn up by some divine power. After the sin of Adam, then, our human nature was weaker, it had lost its perfection and men were more prone to sinning.

But Christ, although He did not utterly make an end of this weakness, nevertheless greatly lessened it. Man is so strengthened by the Passion of Christ and the effect of Adam's sin is so weakened that he is no longer dominated by it. Helped by the grace of God, given him in the sacraments, which derive their power from the Passion of Christ, man is now able to make an effort and so rise up from his sins. Before the Passion of Christ there were few who lived without mortal sin, but since the Passion many have lived and do live without it.

(iv) Liability to the punishment earned by sin. This the justice of God demanded, namely, that for each sin the sinner should be punished, the penalty to be measured according to the sin. Whence, since mortal sin is infinitely wicked, seeing that it is a sin against what is infinitely good, that is to say, God whose commands the sin despises, the punishment due to mortal sin is infinite too.

But by His Passion Christ took away from us this penalty, for He endured it Himself. Who his own self bore our sins, that is the punishment due to us for our sins, in his body upon the tree (i Pet. ii. 24).

So great was the power and value of the Passion of Christ that it was sufficient to expiate all the sins of all the world, reckoned by millions though they be. This is the reason why baptism frees the baptised from all their sins, and why the priest can forgive sin. This is why the man who more and more fashions his life in conformity with the Passion of Christ, and makes himself like to Christ in His Passion, attains an ever fuller pardon and ever greater graces.

(v) Banishment from the kingdom. Subjects who offend the king are sent into exile. So, too, man was expelled from Paradise. Adam, having sinned, was straightway thrown out and the gates barred against him.

But, by His Passion, Christ opened those gates, and called back the exiles from banishment. As the side of Christ opened to the soldier's lance, the gates of heaven opened to man, and as Christ's blood flowed, the stain was washed out, God was appeased, our weakness taken away, amends made for our sins, and the exiles were recalled. Thus it was that Our Lord said immediately to the repentant thief, This day thou shalt be with me in Paradise (Luke xxiii. 43). Such a thing was never before said to any man, not to Adam nor to Abraham, nor even to David. But This day, the day on which the gate is opened, the thief does but ask and he finds. Having confidence in the entering into the holies by the blood of Christ (Heb. x. 19).

The Unknown Catholic Martyrs of Russia

March 10th, 2013 (Laetare Sunday)

"Then the (Red) soldiers told the remaining boy and his sister to 'clear out,' but the boy's only answer was to bar the way to the altar steps with his body.'"

It was in the summer of 1921. There was a little village near Petrograd, along the Petrograd-
Viborg Railway. This village once had a Lithuanian asylum for orphans; hence there was a Catholic church in that place. Soon after the Revolution the asylum was closed, as there were no funds to keep it going, and the priest in charge of the little church had to leave yet a few Catholic families remained on in the village.

During the next four years the place underwent many a vicissitude, coming alternately into the hands of the Whites and the Reds. After all hostilities were over, the Reds settled there, and the village resumed more or less of its former tranquillity, but its inhabitants missed their little church.

The village was naturally brought to rack and ruin during those four disastrous years. Scarcely any houses were fit to live in, whilst the Reds had to keep a considerable garrison there in view of the situation of the village being close to the Finnish frontier. But there was no living accommodation and at last the authorities resolved to turn both the asylum and its church into barracks. As these buildings were barred and locked, it was decided that the doors should be forced open.

On the eve of the day appointed for the carrying out of this plan, a few Red soldiers sat in the village public house, discussing the details of its execution. They were overheard by some children, three boys who happened to belong to the few Catholic families of the place. The boys were all of them big enough to remember how their mothers used to take them into the little church and teach them to genuflect before the altar, saying that "Jesus lived there." The children grasped the idea that Jesus house was to be insulted as they knew well what the Red soldiers were like. The boys did not know that with the closing of the church the Blessed Sacrament had been removed. Their minds clung to the old associations, and they resolved to do all they could to shield Jesus.

The children found out that the raid would take place in the small hours of the following morning. Accordingly, they began to watch from midnight on. They crept into the old church through a window which for some unknown reason was left half open, and overlooked the yard of one of the houses. A sister of one of the boys joined them, as she was as eager as her brother and his friends to "shield the dear, loving Jesus."

The children kept their brave watch all through the hours of the night, crouched at the altar steps, and early in the morning the door was broken open and the Reds came in. When they saw the children, at first they gruffly told them to be off, as this was no place for them. The children remained where they were, and the Reds threatened to fire on them. The boys replied they would not suffer their dear Jesus to be insulted, and that they would remain there. The soldiers, most of them more than half tipsy, began to shoot at the children, and two of them immediately fell. Then the soldiers told the remaining boy and his sister to "clear out," but the boy's only answer was to bar the way to the altar steps with his body.

A few minutes later he was carried out of the church, bleeding but smiling. "We have shielded Jesus, they did not dare to touch him'" he told his mother when they brought him home.

They shielded Jesus.

The little boy died a few hours afterwards, but he lived long enough to say that he had seen Jesus standing smiling and radiant, on the altar steps, and stretching his hands in benediction on the fallen bodies of the children who laid down their little lives to shield his Tabernacle. And the soldiers saw him, too, but they were terrified; to them he did not appear smiling, so they fled screaming that the place was haunted by the devil. And the boy died radiant, saying: "We have shielded Jesus."

Please put us on your list! What is the Holy See's position on Padre Pio?
Also, would like info on valid masses in Canada. God bless you all!

Hi. It is troubling that Fr. Pio publicly supported false mysticism via his promotion of the demonic apparition of Garabandal & that he lacked the Theological training to discern the objective fact that Roncalli & Montini were antipopes.

Lenten abstinence and fast go to midnight of Holy Saturday April 19th, 2014.

Complete abstinence (no eating of meat) is to be observed on Holy Saturday. On days of complete abstinence, meat and soup or gravy made from meat may not be used at all.

James D.J 19.04.2014 16.44

Hi. Is it allowed to eat meat Holy Saturday? Thanks

which version of Holy Week is approved by the church? (ie. the 1955 changes or something else)

We asked this specific question to a member of the Hierarchy in 2007. The reply was that what Pius XII put in place is what is observed.

If possible must we try to find a catholic graveyard pre-v2 as so many desecrations have occurred in v2 graveyards for the last 50 years .

Papal Restoration Staff Member 05.09.2013 11.40

Hi. If it's possible this makes sense. You should sprinkle holy water too on the area. If you come to visit the grave in the future put more holy water on it.

Hans | Reply 03.09.2013 10.14

I have a question, please. How should we bury our dead, when we do not have a priest, or a church. Catholic graveyards are here, but no churches anymore.
